You must have heard the name of Emperor Akbar. During his time, as the extent of the Mughal Empire increased, so did its glory.

Emperor Akbar formed Navratna Sabha with nine meritorious persons. One of the gems of this Navaratna was King Birbal. He was a scholar as well as a wise man. But he is immortalized in history for his wit and humor.

Raja Birbal was a joker, but not a clown. There was a subtle wit in his humor that would have impressed even a great man like Emperor Akbar. Even Emperor Akbar could not help but laugh. The Emperor loved Birbal for his extraordinary intellect.

Once Emperor Akbar asked the councilors in the court: Tell me, which profession is the most in my empire?

The Amirs answered one by one. Some said farmers are more, some said soldiers are more and some said workers are more. Birbal still did not say anything.

Emperor Akbar said to Birbal: Now you answer.

Birbal said to Tamiz: Shahanshah, there are more doctors in your kingdom.

The emperor was surprised. The answer did not seem right to him. He said: What are you saying! There are several doctors all over the country. People are always dying due to a lack of treatment. And you say the number of doctors is more! You have to prove this.

Seeing Birbal's preeminence, other Amirs of Umrah used to envy him. They thought that this time Birbal lost by giving a wrong answer. I understand that he is unpopular with the emperor. They were happy in their hearts.

Birbal got a little composed and replied: Jahapna, you can get the proof right away. You just say once, you have a little cold, only then will the proof come. The emperor said: How does he do?

Amani Birbal replied: Janhapana, whenever you spread the word about your disease, Amani people from all over will start offering treatment. Some will say, eat it, some will say, massage it. Then think about the number of doctors in the country.

The emperor laughed. He praised Birbal and said: Birbal said the right thing. He has no brains.

Birbal's respect for the emperor started to increase. Other councilors could not accept this honor and respect of Birbal. They thought that Birbal must be defamed in front of the emperor by any means. One day they appealed to the emperor that Birbal should take an intelligence test. What the three Pandits are thinking sitting in the court, Birbal has to answer. If he cannot answer, he will leave the court forever.

Birbal agreed after hearing this. Emperor Akbar, however, forbade Birbal to engage in such competition. He was afraid that if he lost, Birbal would have to leave the court forever. Birbal is not a quitter. He entered the competition.

A fight started with the scholars in the court. The first Pandit asked Birbal: Tell me, what am I thinking now?

Birbal replied: You are thinking, Long live Emperor Akbar.

Emperor Akbar asked Pandit if the story is true, and to tell him.

Pandit could not even say 'no'. Needless to say: Janhapana I wish you long life.

What's more, the first question was answered correctly. There was an uproar in the court. Now the answer to the second question. The second Pandit asked Birbal: Well, tell me, what am I thinking?

Birbal closed his eyes and thought about everything. And want Amir Umrah Patra Mitra to stay forever in the emperor's court. What did not say right?

Emperor Akbar himself asked Pandit: What--you don't want my glory! You don't want everyone to be forever. Don't you think so?

Inevitably the second Pandit replied: Janhapana, I think so. Again, there was an uproar in the court.

Now answer the third question. The third Pandit asked Birbal: Tell me, King Birbal, every morning I have a thought, what is that thought?

How long was King Birbal silent He looked like he was in a lot of trouble? Then he drew on palm leaves. He closed his eyes and thought a lot for a while. He suddenly laughed happily. Then he said: Pandit Prabar, you are indeed a well-wisher of His Majesty the Emperor. It is said to be a real assembly. You wake up every morning thinking, our emperor has conquered a new kingdom--let such news come. How, right?

The third Pandit admitted in one word, I think like that every morning.

The whole court burst into loud cheers. Birbal's third answer is also correct. The emperor himself came down from the throne and embraced Birbal. He sat on the throne again. Shantakantha said: Birbal is a true genius among us, we are blessed to have a talented person like him.

Indeed, the value of Birbal increased from that day. Only by the force of the present intellect. Intelligence can make people great.
